archaeological context
remarks on archaeological context Rectangular burial pit with a hole cut in the middle of the floor in which an oval pottery coffin was situated. Flat pieces of stone fastened together and to the coffin with mud were used as a lid. Remains of cloth wrappings were documented on the skeleton.
The brick superstructure had 2 simple niches in the west wall, the southern one contained traces of wooden lintel. An enclosure wall stood in front of the west side. Outside the tomb, at the south end, 3 rough pots were found.
According to the authors, the superstructure, which had different orientation than the pit, was built after the burial was placed in position.
