MATERIAL ANALYSIS

Material analyses at Abusir

Material analyses of burial containers made of wood and plant fibres (“reed”) were conducted in October 2024. The wood analysis was done by Gersande Eschenbrenner Diemer, a prominent specialist in wood of ancient Egypt, and the containers made of botanical remains were analysed by a renowned botanist, Adéla Pokorná. Both analyses brought to light interesting and significant information regarding the materials used for the containers. Thus, they provide us with insights not only into the production of these objects but also into ecology (wood, plant fibres) or far-distance trade (wood). The results have been processed and will be prepared for publication.
