archaeological context
remarks on archaeological contextMastaba (290 cm × 237 cm) with 2 simple niches in the western wall. Circular burial pit (110 cm, 140 cm deep) contained a circular pottery coffin which was covered by a similar pottery coffin inverted over the first one as a lid. The space between the coffin and the walls of the pit was filled with gravel. A corbel vault was built around and over the inverted coffin.
Inside the coffin was placed a rough ware “flowerpot” and a wooden double stemmed headrest.
